The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act (H.R. 7), which eliminates dedicated funding for the Transportation Enhancements (TE) program and completely eliminates the Safe Routes To School program, as well as pedestrian and bicycle programs.

Pedestrian and bicycle programs provide funding for improvements that affect the 12% who travel by walking and biking. The Safe Routes to School program provides a safe accessible way for children to get to and from school. Our communities deserve nothing less in terms of safety and accessibly, and the elimination of these programs should not be an option when safety is at stake.
