When building a new wood fence, whether its Redwood, Cedar, or Grape Stake, Good Neighbor or Shadowbox, make sure you use Postmasters by Master Halco. Postmasters are steel posts that set directly in concrete and will last forever in comparison to wood posts of the past. With their “T” design, they also make installation of the rails, planks, and gates a cinch. Now that I have been using these, there is no reason I would ever go back. The predrilled screw holes are 1″ apart on center and there is also hash marks all the way down the post every 6″. Make sure to to slap two together when doing your gate post. And you can always use 2″x2″ for fillers on those end posts and gate posts. And if you’re really in it for the long haul, pair your Postmasters with rails and planks by Timberwolf which are made from all recycled material, come in 4 colors and endless styles, and will never fade or rot!
